This position manages a large and innovative set of collaboration technologies from multiple vendors (including both Microsoft and Google). It also manages the group of technicians, engineers and students who support these mission critical University communication/collaboration platforms and the associated automation/development to support these systems. These services support the academic, research, and health care missions across the University of Utah Campus and Hospital community. The incumbent will manage budgets, implement systems, maintain policies, develop roadmaps, and guide the long-term goals that support the organization’s needs around these services. This position also ensures proper functioning of related systems and oversees necessary upgrades and compliance. The University community continually depends on these systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

WORK SCHEDULE: Full Time. Hybrid schedule – remote office and in the office
Manages the information technology department. Implements and maintains policies and goals that support the organization’s IT needs. Ensures proper functioning of the information processing system and oversees necessary upgrades. Helps business operations groups utilize information systems to improve their efficiency. Ensures computer equipment, hardware, and software are updated to meet organizational needs.
Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to top management.

It is critical that the incumbent have experience with hybrid architectures as both the cloud and on-premises solutions are integral to meeting the organization’s needs.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalency and at least 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
