The Associate Director of the Office of Orientation & Transition will assist in overseeing all operations of the Office of Orientation & Transition, including supervision of an office comprised of undergraduate student staff, graduate student staff, and professional staff; implementation of all first-year and transfer orientation programs; coordination of Weeks of Welcome, transition programs, programming for parents and families; managing office communications plan; creating and conducting strategic plans and assessment of all areas; and development and management of budgets.

Responsibilities

1. Coordinates and/or manages specific large-scale, collaborative programs such as New Student Orientation, Parent & Family Orientation, Weeks of Welcome, First-Year Programs, Transfer Student Programs, Extended Orientations, and other new initiatives
2. Supervises professional and student staff, and assists in the coordination of intentional professional development opportunities for the office
3. Manages office communications plan, including marketing and social media presence
4. Ensures continuity and quality customer service from office staff
5. Assists with department financial transactions
6. Manages projects and expectations of stakeholders
6. Aids in setting, tracking and meeting department goals through a strategic plan
7. Supports Enrollment Management goals and initiatives
7. Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related area, or equivalency required; plus six years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communication skills also required.

Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, related area preferred.

Preferences

Master’s degree in Student Personnel or related field, with a minimum of 3 years of administrative experience in Higher Education; experience working with faculty, administrative, and student groups; strong demonstrated collaboration skills; effective written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated commitment and experience working with diverse populations; prior program development and management experience.
Preference will be given to candidates who can additionally demonstrate prior budgetary and supervisory experience, experience with assessment and strategic planning, and knowledge of student development theory and practice.
