University of the Pacific Hiring for Assistant Professor, Design, Innovation, Entrepreneurship (Tenure Track) Job at Stockton, CA Full Time

Primary Purpose and Essential Functions:
The School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of the Pacific invites applications for a tenure-track position in product design, innovation, and entrepreneurship at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to start in Fall 2023. This position will contribute to instruction across the school’s curriculum potentially including existing courses such as Design and Innovation, Engineering and Science-Based Entrepreneurship, Capstone Projects, Technology Venturing, and Managing Science, Technology, and Innovation. This position will also contribute to the school’s expansion of design and innovation throughout the curriculum, through the development of new courses and instructional components, which may include Design Thinking for lower-division students, Product Design, Design for Environment, Assembly and Manufacturing, Rapid Prototyping, modules on design for inclusion in existing courses, multidisciplinary capstone projects and short elective courses on specific topics applicable to all majors in the school. A new maker space facility coming online in AY 2022-23 will provide additional creative space that may support activities associated with this position. The University of the Pacific is a comprehensive university with a business school and a law school, providing opportunities for collaborative projects beyond the School of Engineering and Computer Science.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have a doctorate degree in engineering or computer science, or a terminal degree in entrepreneurship, innovation, design, or a related discipline.
The primary qualification for this position is a strong interest and demonstrable potential for undergraduate education in the areas of product design, innovation, and entrepreneurship within the engineering and computer science disciplines.
Areas of specialization that contribute to and deepen the schools course offerings might include:

• Design, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship courses.
• Knowledge of product development, materials selection, and industrial design is essential.
• Demonstrated potential for and commitment to high-quality research in new product development.

Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates should also be prepared to teach in our masters graduate programs and to sustain a program of academic research. Candidates with experience in Engineering Education and innovative pedagogy are encouraged to apply. Candidates with experience in the professional practice of design thinking, product management, and new product development are preferred. Experience with research projects or co-op that involve students is desired.
