Job Summary/Essential Job Functions: Under the direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and Community Engagement this position will be responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and recruitment of the Health Career Programs and Pre-Health Scholars Program (PSP). The Education Specialist will have oversight of all on-site activities for HCP – PSP program activities for fall, winter, and summer months, with student recruitment occurring late winter/early spring and analysis of outcomes occurring late summer/early fall.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implements and coordinates all Health Career Programs to include managing the identification of students throughout the application process.
Designs and implements of Health Career Programs marketing, professional school/career development, webinars, workshops, creating community partnerships and outreach programs for faculty preceptors and student assistants.
Generates statistical data for the Health Career Programs Annual Report and follow-up with any other reporting requests.
Identifies and recommends hiring of faculty and student assistants.
Preceptors two levels of program operation.
Provides training and technical guidance to staff, student assistants and faculty preceptors.
Assists with the planning and coordination of Student Life programs.
Markets and recruits for Health Career Programs.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years related work experience in an academic /higher education setting to include experience in the areas of creating programs, marketing, assessment, and summer enrichment programs experience OR Master’s Degree and one (1) year of related work experience; OR a combination of related education, training, and/or experience that totals ten (10) years. Prior experience in developing programs with diverse populations preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Must possess effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a broad range of people including faculty, staff, students, health care professionals and members of the public.
Candidate must have excellent organizational and planning skills and initiative in developing curricular plans for students as well as be able to work independently and as a team member in developing student support services.
Must exhibit a strong understanding and appreciation of the SACE-HCP role in the mission of student support at UTHSC.
Knowledgeable of managing grant applications /execution, developing community partnerships, knowledge of program development and fiscal management preferred.
Must also be computer literate, able to use standard Microsoft Office products (Word, Power point, Excel).
WORK SCHEDULE: This position may be required to work frequent weekends. May require occasional evening work and overnight travel
