Lecturer in Science Education
Your New Role
As an innovative educator-researcher with expertise in the field of Science Education and a focus on secondary schooling, this exciting new role will deliver programs in flexible, fully online, and face-to-face modes. Contributing to the development of innovative methodologies and pedagogies for teaching science in the Tasmanian context and assisting with administrative tasks to support the operation of the School of Education. In building a research portfolio that contributes to the research productivity of the School of Education, you will contribute their expertise to the intellectual life of the School, pursue external research funding, publish independently and collaboratively, supervise postgraduate students, and where appropriate, engage in consultancies and professional development. In addition, you will work with external stakeholder and community groups to build the profile of science education in Tasmania.
About the College
The College of Arts, Law and Education (CALE) provides world-class research and teaching including undergraduate and postgraduate programs at campuses in Hobart, Launceston, and Cradle Coast (Burnie), and online. Each of the three campuses has recently or is about to, move to new buildings and new centrally located campuses, each with state-of-the-art teaching and learning spaces. CALE’s mission is to develop the next generation of thinkers and professionals in education, social work, law, media, policing and justice, and the cultural and creative industries. We strive to contribute a highly skilled and integrated workforce in these disciplines to every region of our island. CALE brings together teaching and research expertise from five Schools: Creative Arts and Media, Education, Humanities, Law and Social Sciences. What You’ll Need to Succeed
With a profile that allows you to teach across multiple areas, you will have a strong commitment to the crucial role of education in enabling individuals and communities to flourish. As an innovative and energetic educator-researcher with demonstrable expertise in one or more of these key areas, you will love working in teams as well as independently. With highly effective communication skills, you will work with external stakeholder and community groups towards a step-change in educational attainment in Tasmania. As a strong collaborator, you will demonstrate ability to build effective relationships locally and nationally within the discipline, industry and wider community.
