CASUAL – Student Living Support Officer

• Based in Hobart or Launceston
• Provide support to student living staff and students

The Opportunity

The role of Casual Student Living Support Officer is a critical, front-line role, requiring high levels of face-to-face and supportive engagement with student residents. The role of Casual Student Living Support Officer will greatly contribute to a positive student living experience with positive health and wellbeing outcomes.

A Casual Student Living Support Officer replaces an absent Support Officer and will be supervised to provide support to more senior Student Living staff. Specifically, a Casual Student Living Support Officer will provide support to Student Living staff to:

• Respond to fire alarms and support the evacuation of residents
• Respond to critical incidents following student living protocols
• Assist student residents as required (e.g. lock-outs; general enquiries; concerns)
• Escalate any issues to Student Living staff

Key Accountabilities:

• Under the guidance of Student Living staff, respond with empathy to resident concerns and support staff to address concerns in a timely manner
• Support Student Living staff to respond to incidents and remove risk in the student living environment

Your Application

To be successful in the role, your application will need to demonstrate;

• Sound interpersonal skills including an ability to communicate effectively
• Experience or interest in working with culturally diverse groups
• Capacity to take a people-centred and safety-first response to incidents
• Capacity to follow direction under pressure
• Current Working with Vulnerable People registration or to be obtained

Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at Casual – Student Living Support Officer with a rate of $42.14 (inclusive of 25% loading).
