Associate Professor/Professor Early Years Education

The Opportunity

The School of Education is seeking to appoint an Associate Professor/Professor in Early Years Education at an Academic Level D or E to lead a step change in early years provision in Tasmania. The successful applicant will lead the development of an innovative vision of early learning in the Tasmanian context that will have long term, significant impact on educational attainment. The role will be responsible for the strategic growth of an Early Years research group, will have the opportunity to contribute to the physical and learning design of new education precincts in Launceston and Hobart that include provision for childcare and early years, and will work with government and other providers in the early years sector to identify and operationalise key initiatives.

Key Accountabilities:

• Create and implement strategies that build research capacity around effective and impactful early literacy and/or numeracy practices in Tasmanian.
• Undertake high-quality research of international standing, publish research findings in high quality outlets, secure competitive funding, and successfully supervise research higher degree students.
• Establish and build a dynamic Early Years Research Lab.
• Provide leadership in the construction of external funding applications.
• Provide leadership in fostering interdisciplinary collaborations within the University.
• Undertake scholarly undergraduate and postgraduate coursework teaching of an exemplary quality.
• Provide academic leadership in building teams.
• Foster outstanding research in learning and teaching.

Your Application

To be successful in the role, your application will need to demonstrate;

• A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field.
• A substantial record in research and high-quality publications that has achieved international recognition and made innovative and sustained contributions to early years education.
• A substantial record of successful research higher degree student supervision and completions.
• Extensive knowledge, experience, and achievement in University level teaching and learning.
• Proven ability as an academic leader, with a record in team building and creating effective working relationships to foster excellence in research and teaching.
• Ability to build and maintain effective partnerships locally, nationally, internationally with the discipline and wider community.

Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level D and will have a total remuneration package of up to $184,454 comprising base salary within the range of $145,389 to $157,653 plus 17% superannuation.

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level E and will have a total remuneration package of up to $214,551 comprising base salary of $179,781 to $183,377 plus 17% superannuation.
