The position
The University of Southern Queensland (USQ) is seeking an outstanding and driven individual to fill the role of Dean (Students) which will provide a coordinated, consistent university-wide approach to developing student services and support.
Reporting directly to the Provost, the Dean (Students) will work in partnership with the Academic Registrar to co-lead the Students Portfolio. The Dean (Students) will lead university wide initiatives and play a key role in shaping and delivering the University’s direction and priorities related to the student experience.
The Dean (Students) will be responsible for, and have an instrumental role in, establishing an integrated services model to bring together teams and functions that support key university outcomes in student learning, progression, retention, and success.
The applicant
Integral to your success will be your proven senior leadership experience in developing strategies that will enhance the student experience and/or outcomes, coupled with your ability to lead and improve student transitions and student engagement, success and retention activities, and build collaborative and productive relationships across functional boundaries.
With the ability to apply evidence-based, research-led strategies to understand challenges and provide innovative and practical solutions to workplace issues, you will be an ambitious educator with natural capabilities to shape a vision and deliver consistent university-wide services and initiatives that improve the quality of the student experience and outcomes.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of the principles underpinning anti-discrimination, grievance resolution, student equity, occupational health and safety and other relevant legislation, and a demonstrated commitment to and capacity to implement the principles and plans for equal opportunity, student equity, affirmative action and occupational health and safety is required.
As a member of the University’s academic executive management team, you will provide strategic vision and leadership across your portfolio.
