Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
Provides program recruitment for National Institutes of Health R01 grant, the ‘Together Everyone Achieves More Physical Activity’ ( TEAM -PA) project. The primary role of the Recruitment Program Coordinator will be to oversee recruitment of research participants. The TEAM -PA Project is a randomized controlled trial that will evaluate the efficacy of a group-based social affiliation intervention for promoting physical activity among inactive African American women. Specifically, the TEAM -PA uses both collaborative and competitive strategies to promote different aspects of social affiliation (group cohesion, reciprocal support, collective efficacy, relatedness), which is hypothesized to be an important pathway for promoting improved health (physical activity, blood pressure). The project uses a group cohort randomized design, which will be implemented at community centers in Columbia and the surrounding area across a five-year period.
Oversight for recruitment, including training and supervision of part-time recruitment staff and student volunteers.
Serves as a liaison with all community partners and is primarily responsible for participant recruitment, including identifying recruitment opportunities/events, overseeing the schedule for recruitment calls, and scheduling/implementing recruitment orientation sessions.
Supervises data collection related to recruitment; review data for inconsistencies and missing information (quality control), and assists in the production of project updates and reports related to recruitment.
Assists the PI in maintaining the overall scientific integrity of the proposed study. Works closely with the PI to ensure that protocols are followed during recruitment.
Responsible for distributing and updating recruitment materials, including printing, mailing, and managing the study website.
Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)
Master’s degree in related field and 1 year related experience, or bachelor’s degree in related field and 3 years related experience. Experience in a leadership/supervisor role and study recruitment.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Behavioral Science, Social Work, Public Health, Exercise Science, or related field. Passion for health equity and working with community organizations. Experience with research related to health promotion, physical activity and underrepresented minority groups.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to communicate clearly, orally and in writing, with all constituents of the College of Nursing. Strong interpersonal skills sufficient to inspire, lead, and work effectively with diverse groups. Ability to effectively direct, manage, and lead professional and support staff. Excellent problem solving skills with proven ability to strategize, prioritize, and multi-task to meet goals and deadlines. Understanding and support of the research mission of the College of Nursing. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Ability to interpret and apply rules and regulations. Ability to manage work and provide guidance to employees. Ability to make presentations and prepare reports.
