Position Description

Advertised Job Summary
Under limited supervision, the position of Office Manager plans and directs the daily operations of the Department of Languages, Literature, and Cultures’ main office that supports over 66 full-time faculty, various part-time temporary faculty, approximately 40 GAs, and five classified staff. Also, responsible for training, scheduling, and supervising work-study students. Coordinates and plans equipment repairs and purchase as well as office moves and facilities issues within the department. Responds to inquiries from students and assist Curriculum Coordinator with scheduling and student issues when needed. Supports assistant to the Chair.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma and 1 year experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Prefer work experience in budgeting, purchasing, and modern office practices. Ability to work with frequent interruptions, pay attention to detail, meet deadlines, and maintain composure while dealing with stressful situations. Expected to perform under established guidelines of the department and work in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive and personnel issues. Prefer applicants with purchasing and budgeting experience, preferably in the area of government or other entity that operates under regulatory oversight or strict procedures and policies. Prefer knowledge of the university system and USC policies and procedures concerning student hires, purchasing, VISA, and other USC on-line systems. Working knowledge of computers in general as well Microsoft Office products and Adobe.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships within a department and with a department’s external partners/vendors.
