This is a blended role that conducts presentations (up to 15% of the time at the direction of the director) and advises qualified high school students and their families through the admissions process using established and personally-developed inquiries. The Outreach Advisor (OA) contacts students and parents in a timely manner to point out the benefits of attending USV and determine if they’re in alignment with the students educational and career goals. The OA will help the student through the application and enrollment process. The OA is responsible for all phases of the student admissions process for enrollment at the University of Silicon Valley.
Duties and Responsibilities
Achieve goals in alignment with the operating targets
Contact all prospective high school leads in a timely manner as specified by department standards
Attempt initial contact in accordance with department standards
Conduct interviews with students and parents. Virtual interviews will be conducted using Zoom, Teams, or Google Mee
Advise prospective applicants on the admissions process, cost of attendance, the financial aid process, and available education, and student support services
Coordinate with the manager for follow-up on all prospective students before submitting applications.
Assess potential students for characteristics to matriculate through graduation
Maintain full knowledge of USVs curricula in order to explain all course offering
Have a good understanding of the industries and career opportunities for graduates of USV programs
Assist students in selecting the program that best fits the students needs and goals
Advise students on placement test requirements and arrange for additional qualifications, if necessary
Liaison with other departments to ensure seamless student enrollment
Ensure that all USV policies and procedures are followed for enrollment and registration
Maintain compliance with all regulatory policies
Maintain enrollment management records and complete all standard reports
Adhere to laws and regulations governing student recruitment activities
Book and conduct presentations in high school classrooms or college fairs (approximately 15% of the time)
Other duties and related projects as assigned
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelors degree in a related area or equivalent education and experience
Experience:
Two or more years of experience in higher education or admissions.
Skills:

Ability to meet deadlines and juggle multiple priorities
Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
Outstanding written, verbal, and listening skills
Ability and willingness to discern and meet the needs of students

Competent with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new programs
Ability to collect and analyze information
Ability to work with others in a collegial and productive manner
Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes some evenings and weekends
Working conditions
Work is conducted remotely during daily approved hours by the manager, which includes evenings and Saturdays. The majority of work is done remotely but will require up to one Saturday per month on campus.
Physical requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 5 pounds. The employee is required to sit for long periods of time; use hands and reach with hands and arms for activities such as keyboarding.
