Director of Web Services

SUMMARY:

The Web Services Director strategically and tactically leads the technical aspects of the University’s public web sites and related back-end infrastructure. The Director is a functional, technical manager who leads a team of developers. The primary responsibilities of the team are performing back-end development, operating the public web back-end systems, and maintaining and configuring the Content Management System (CMS). In addition, the Director is the high-level coordinator of activities for the cross-functional technical team responsible for the public web. This cross-functional team operates the public web infrastructure, develops web sites, and is responsible for the quality of the University’s public web sites. Web services is responsible for the CMS while University Communications uses the CMS to deploy web sites.

The Director works closely with the AVP of Communications and Digital Engagement and the Director of User Experience to ensure that the digital mission of University Communications is met. This position serves as the technical lead for the public web, including both the technical architecture of the front-end and back-end systems.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field is required; Master’s Degree preferred. A combination of education, experience, and skills will be considered.
• 2-4 years of experience developing web libraries in PHP and back-end applications in Python.
• Experience with Cascade content management system preferred.

WORK HOURS:

• Full-time, exempt position
• Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week
• Some night and weekend work as required to complete projects and/or on-call to deal with unscheduled incidents
• 
  Flexibility to work 3 days on campus and 2 days remote

SALARY STRUCTURE:
Pay Grade 10 (Hiring range $83,650.00 to $115,012.00 annually)
