TWO vacancies are available. The purpose of this position is to assist with ONE or MORE of the following tasks in transportation and traffic area with focus on disruptive technologies including connected vehicles, autonomous vehicles, electrical buses, and shared mobility:

• Research literature review on the development and impacts of the above disruptive technologies on transportation and smart city areas; technical report and manuscript editing and formatting.
• Analyze and process smartcard and mobile application data with Python; visualize and integrates data that communicates clear information and conclusions; support and initiate the development of statistical model and machine learning models.
• Mathematical cognition research on travel behavior modeling, operation strategy design and optimization.
• Backend re-infrastructure and programming (Python or Java).

Position Requirements

Applications are required to have engineering background with a preference for transportation, civil and environmental engineering, software, computer science, mathematics or related discipline, and have:

• Interests in big data processing and urban transportation and traffic engineering
• Solid skills in programming languages, preferably python and/or java
• Work remote and complete tasks in a timely manner
• Experience in one or more of the following topics:

(1) course learning or project experience in transportation and traffic areas.

(2) temporal-spatial data analysis

(3) backend development with data feeds

(4) mathematical modeling for optimization problems

Physical Demands Pay Grade As Per CUPE 2419 Salary Range As per 2419 Collective Agreement Status Term Work Hours

Up to 10 hours per week.
