University of Reading Hiring for Research Software Engineer Job at Reading, England Full Time

The National Centre for Atmospheric Science wishes to recruit an outstanding computational scientist to play a key role in cf-python software development and dissemination.

NCAS-CMS provides computational modelling services to the UK Climate and Weather research communities, develops software in-house and is responsible for installing and maintaining world-leading climate modelling systems on the UK’s most powerful high-performance computers.

The role will involve:

• The scientific integration of cf-python with other software libraries and software stacks (such as Pangeo).
• Outreach and communication activities towards raising the profile of cf-python within communities who could benefit from it.

You will have:

• Skills in Python programming
• A relevant PhD (or equivalent experience)
• Knowledge of modern software engineering practices
• Experience of writing for technical readership
• An aptitude for working in interdisciplinary research teams
