Position Summary:

The Head Coach is responsible for directing the women’s soccer
program to best represent the mission and vision of the university
and the department. The primary responsibilities include the
recruitment, retention, academic, and personal development of the
student-athletes. The head coach will provide dynamic training and
technical skill development of student-athletes to reach
competitive goals established. The head coach will manage the
administrative duties necessary for the operations of the programs
and work with other department members to execute all necessary
functions. The head coach will assist the university and department
to cultivate relationships with alumni, friends, parents, and fans
of the programs.

Essential Job Functions and
Responsibilities:

Coaching / Teaching

Provide skill, technical, and tactical
instruction on an individual and team basis during training and
competition and prepare team and individuals for competition
Prepare, plan, conduct and evaluate
training sessions
Conduct team tryouts and make
selections
Develop race strategy and communicate
to the student-athletes
Develop and organize strength training
and conditioning program for student-athletes to utilize during the
season and out of season
Assist in the organization and
execution of strength training and conditioning program for
student-athletes to utilize during the season and out of
season
Serve as mentor to student-athletes to
athletic ability and team dynamics, and providing guidance for
academic and personal development
Establish and monitor team rules
Teach and grade varsity sport class
for academic credit

Program Administration

Plan, organize, execute, and supervise
team travel
Schedule competition and practices and
coordinate with support areas, including County officials and
boathouse partners
Supervise and manage assistant
coach(es)
Order and maintain equipment
inventory
Adhere to university and department
accounting practices and effectively manage sport budget
Participate in the department planning
process and develop long and short term objectives of program
Collaborate with the Athletics
Communication office in the collection and dissemination of
information pertaining the team and student-athletes
Collaborate with the medical and
training services staff, as well as the Office of Counseling,
Health and Wellness to ensure the health and welfare of the
student-athletes; work with all necessary parties on water safety
protocol
Assist in organization and
coordination for home events with support areas
Assist in monitoring the eligibility
of student-athletes with focus of adhering to all NCAA and NWC
regulations

Recruitment of Prospective
Student-Athletes

Coordinate and oversee the recruitment
of student-athletes
Evaluate and assess the athletic and
academic abilities of prospects to meet University and program
academic and competitive objectives
Develop and execute a comprehensive
recruitment plan to include communication, outreach, and response
to prospects, use of social media platforms, coordination of
campus, and off-campus visits in accordance with NCAA
regulations.
Collaborate with the Office of
Admissions, including utilization of Slate operating system
Serve as a resource to prospects in
providing accurate Admissions, Financial Aid, and NCAA regulations
information

Campus / Community
Communications

Interact with various campus offices,
departments, as well as individual faculty and staff members
Maintain effective and open
communication with University faculty including providing
information on potential class absences due to team travel
Assist with the promotion of Logger
Athletics with campus and external partners, including department
fundraising and alumni initiatives
Assist with community service projects
including summer camps and special events

Qualifications:

• Possess a strong knowledge of the sport as well as a solid
  understanding of strength and conditioning elements and health and
  safety standards;
• Effective verbal and written communication skills;
• Strong computer and video technology skills; excellent
  leadership, management, and problem solving skills;
• Demonstrated level of high ethical conduct;
• Understanding and adherence to institutional, conference, and
  NCAA rules and policies;
• Knowledge and commitment to the role of intercollegiate
  athletics in an academically-oriented liberal arts
  institution;
• Ability to respectfully work, communicate and provide
  leadership within a diverse campus community.

Compensation and Benefits: The anticipated pay for
this position is $48,000 annually DOE. Decisions about starting
salaries are made based on the extent and relatedness of the
candidate’s education and experience and on internal equity and
market considerations.
