About the MAT Program
The Master of Arts in Teaching program at the University of Puget
Sound is approved by the Washington state Professional Standards
Board. The program has six full-time faculty members, three of whom
also teach courses in the Education Studies minor. MAT candidates
are placed in local public schools and supervision is provided by
three full time faculty members. Cohort enrollment is typically 30
candidates per year in a range of endorsement areas including
Elementary Education (K-8), Music, English Language Arts, History,
Social Studies, Math, Biology, Chemistry, and Science. The small
faculty works closely together on ongoing curriculum and program
development to train reflective, collaborative, and social justice

program is located on the website at https://www.pugetsound.edu/academics/education-studies
