We are seeking a full-time Library Assistant to work in the Bodleian Old Library and Radcliffe Camera, which includes the History Faculty Library.
You will support the provision of library services and assist in front line reader services work, including staffing the reception/circulation desks and checking in and shelving items and fulfilling items requested by readers. In addition, the role includes basic collection maintenance responsibilities for printed collections on the open shelves. The work is physical but also requires a good eye for detail and accuracy as well as the ability to work effectively in a team.
You will have excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing high quality service. Ability to do routine library work under pressure, accuracy, reliability and good interpersonal skills are important personal qualities for these roles. Previous experience of library work is desirable and familiarity with library management systems/databases would be an advantage, though full training will be given as necessary.
This is a permanent, full time position (working 36.5 hours per week).
