Secondment – 6 Months
Saïd Business School is recruiting for a Finance Business Partner reporting to the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis.
You will be working closely with closely with the Finance Director. This role will be one of four Finance Business Partners who are responsible for ensuring that senior management benefits from sound commercial advice and challenge in their areas of responsibility. It is envisaged that these postholders may be given exposure to different areas of the business in support of their professional development.
You will be responsible for all budgeting, forecasting, planning and ongoing commercial analysis, challenge and support of the School’s support services, including corporate marketing, development and alumni, estates and facilities, IT, as well as the overhead areas (non-programme related) in Student Programme Services, including the careers development centre & admissions). It also includes the School’s internal development programme housed under IT. Total spend across these areas is in excess of £20m per year. The role will also be a key financial monitor for the Osney Power Station, including inputs into the main business case and monitoring and reporting of spend and fundraising.
You will also provide the main level of support to the Head of FPA in centrally administering the School’s reforecasting, budgeting and strategic planning cycles and need to have the ability to identify cost savings and/or efficiency improvements, helping to ensure we meet the stretching financial targets set for these areas of activity over the coming years. Accounting expert advice will be required to ensure spend is appropriately controlled and recognised.
To be considered for this role you will need to Act as a Finance Business Partner to support commercial decision-making across the School and be able to demonstrate that you have experience in a management accounting role including working directly with budget holders in financial planning, reporting and analysis and hold a recognised accounting qualification from a chartered professional body, or substantial progression towards qualification.
You will also need to have the ability to build effective networks with key partners, both within and outside the School. In particular, the role will interact extensively with colleagues in central, shared Finance and IT functions. The post holder will need to use influencing and negotiating skills to deliver systems or process change that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the School’s reporting and wider financial management. At times, the post holder may be called on to represent the School in working or project groups initiated by these shared services.
