The department is committed to advancing gender and intersectional equality across all activities and through developing an inclusive culture and is now seeking an Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Officer to support the department across a range of projects related to ED&I, and in particular to support the department in its preparations for the achievement of its first Athena SWAN Bronze award. These preparations will require the post holder to gather and analyse a wide range of data, using this to inform work with key stakeholders in the department in order to develop ambitious plans to overcome identified barriers to equality.
They will be expected to develop an excellent knowledge of the Athena SWAN transformed Charter, network with other ED&I colleagues within the Division and University to identify and share best practice to inform the department’s activities. They will also co-ordinate the department’s ED&I meeting agenda in consultation with the Chair, and initiate and implement a range of related ED&I project work to support and foster an inclusive culture.
To succeed in this post, applicants will need to demonstrate passion and drive for advancing equality, diversity and inclusion, ideally through previous experience of working in a similar role, or of significant involvement in activities which support and drive equality and diversity. You will need to be able to work independently, with proficient IT skills (particularly Excel and Word) for quantitative and qualitative data gathering, manipulation and analysis, and possess excellent organisation skills with the ability to plan ahead and carry out work to meet multiple deadlines. The ability to make credible, evidence-based recommendations and influence stakeholders to drive forward diversity initiatives is also essential.
This role is offered on a full-time basis (37.5 hours per week), flexible working hours are available, along with remote working 2 days per week.
