The School of Education at the University of Nottingham is a dynamic and internationally leading school with a comprehensive, research-led approach to the field of education. We are looking to make a number of strategic appointments that build on existing strengths to enhance our research and teaching and contribute to a vibrant, supportive and collegial environment.
The School’s research and teaching focuses on the full spectrum of formal and non-formal educational provision from early childhood through to adult and higher education, as well as community and counselling approaches, with a strong international perspective. This is informed by a broad understanding of education that contributes to human flourishing and inclusive social justice. We are an interdisciplinary team drawing on a wide range of disciplines including curriculum studies (in a range of subject areas), psychology, sociology, leadership and management, pedagogy, learning sciences, linguistics, development studies, comparative education, and teacher education. Our teaching programmes include initial teacher education, international teacher development, academic literacy and development, undergraduate studies in education, specialised Masters courses, a professional doctorate, as well as a vibrant PhD through research.
We seek to make strategic appointments that strengthen the research capacity of the School and provide leadership in our teaching and knowledge exchange activities. The incumbent will support the School of Education’s work by making a significant contribution to one of the School’s research centres and through building their own profile by actively seeking out external research funding and publishing high quality, impactful research. They will take on module leadership in relation to their particular expertise either in the School’s BA (Hons) Education, the large PGCE International programme, the MA Education (and its online variant) or other specialist Masters programmes. The role holder will also work in other areas in the school, such as research student supervision. While not restricted to these areas, we would welcome applicants with a focus on one or more of the following: curriculum and pedagogy; higher education; teacher development ; lifelong learning/further education; international or comparative education.
Applicants must hold a research degree (eg MPhil, PhD or EdD) in a relevant area. They should also have experience of teaching, supervision, and a proven track record of research expertise in relevant areas.
This is a permanent, full time post and hours of work are 36.25 per week, however job share arrangements may be considered.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Professor Bernadette Youens, email [email protected]. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
