The Faculty of Science are looking to appoint two Education and Student Experience Administrators. These are exciting new roles, and the administrators will be key members of the Schools’ Operations Teams with a specific focus on Education and Student Experience (ESE). This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with staff and students to support the faculty’s student experience activities and operations.
You will work closely with academic colleagues such as Senior Tutors, Course Directors, and the Director of Teaching & Learning as well as the School Operations team. You will also have close links with the Faculty Education and Student Experience team and will have opportunities to build a community of practice with colleagues doing similar roles in other schools. You will undertake a range of duties associated with teaching, student experience and student administration which are vital to ensure a quality learning experience. This may include:
One post will be based across the School of Physics & Astronomy and the School of Chemistry (on University Park) and the other will be based in the School of Biosciences (on our Sutton Bonington Campus). The post will require flexibility, initiative, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, as well as excellent IT and communication skills. You will be thorough and meticulous in your approach to tasks and focussed on delivering a high-quality professional service to students and staff. To work effectively across a range of ESE activities you will be highly organised with good interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop effective relationships and engage with staff and students at all levels.
You will have a vocational qualification (NVQ2 Administration with Secretarial Skills) or equivalent and experience of administrative work, or considerable work experience in relevant role. This is a full-time (36.25hrs/week), permanent position. Job share or flexible working arrangements may be considered for the right candidate.
At the University of Nottingham, we are committed to providing generous employment packages whilst supporting the well-being of our staff to help them reach their full potential. As a University employee, you will have an excellent choice of benefits and rewards, including access to fitness and health facilities, staff discounts and travel schemes, along with 25 days’ holiday allowance.
There is one application for both posts; if you have a preference for which school or schools you would like to work in, please indicate this in the ‘additional information’ section of the application form. If your preference is the School of Biosciences, you will predominantly be based at our beautiful Sutton Bonnington campus rather than University Park. A free hopper bus is provided for staff travelling to Sutton Bonington Campus from University Park. In both roles, it is expected you will work on campus for three days a week, but this is subject to increase, and some flexibility will need to be required.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Helen Waters-Marsh, Education and Student Experience Manager, email: helen.waters-marsh@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
Our University has always been a supportive, inclusive, caring and positive community. We warmly welcome those of different cultures, ethnicities and beliefs – indeed this very diversity is vital to our success, it is fundamental to our values and enriches life on campus. We welcome applications from UK, Europe and from across the globe. For more information on the support we offer our international colleagues, see our Moving to Nottingham pages.
For successful international applicants, we provide financial support for your visa and the immigration health surcharge, plus an interest-free loan to help cover the cost of immigration-related expenses for any dependants accompanying you to the UK. For more information please see the our webpage on Financial support for visas and the immigration health surcharge.
This role will not attract sufficient points to obtain a sponsored Skilled Worker visa under the UK Visas & Immigration points based immigration system, however applications are welcome from candidates who don’t currently have the right to work in the UK, but who would be eligible to obtain a valid visa via another route.
