Our programs have been designed to provide a variety of choices to best fit your needs and the needs of your family. Full time employees are eligible for dental, vision and health insurance plans. Health insurance benefit plans eligibility begins on the first of the month following date of hire. Retirement plan contributions begin on the eligibility date following election and include employer contributions for either a defined contribution or a defined benefit plan. Optional disability plans are also available.
Full time employees are also eligible for up to three (3) paid waivers from the state and then UNCW provides an additional two waivers in the summer for classes taken only at UNCW including the application fee and book rental. In addition as a full time employee, UNCW offers a free membership to the Campus Recreation Center, free vaccine and booster shots offered on campus, meditation and yoga sessions, voluntary supplemental insurance coverages, pretax flexible spending accounts, 12 paid holidays, 24 hours of paid community service leave time, paid vacation and sick leave accrual and family medical leave after 12 months of continuous service
We also offer an abundance of training and development programs through our Dare to Learn Academy, Skillport, and the employee assistance program, many of which are offered free of charge.

Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Cameron School’s Academic Advising and Career Success Center (AACSC) provides academic advising, career coaching, and professional growth activities for business students as they plan and prepare for a successful business career.
The Academic Advisor will advance the mission of the AACSC by empowering students to think critically about their future to reach sound decisions, provide informed guidance to help students achieve academic success, and equip students with advising tools and resources that support their academic goals.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
A Master’s degree in student development, higher education, counseling, or related field is required and 1-2 years of advising experience, student counseling, or student services support at an academic institution is required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to demonstrate tact, diplomacy and maintain a high level of confidentiality are required.
Experience advising undergraduate business students and proficiency in Banner are highly desirable.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will possess polished interpersonal communication skills, counseling skills, and have experience in advising within a higher education setting.
The candidate should demonstrate a professional demeanor that establishes credibility quickly, inspires confidence and builds positive relationships.
Outstanding presentation skills that enable effective, influential communication with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and alumni is vital to this position
Attention to detail, task orientation and the ability to work collaboratively as well as independently to achieve institutional goals and objectives is expected
Proficiency with various computer applications, Microsoft Office, and web technology are essential skills
Occasional evening and weekend work is rare, but may be necessary

The Cameron School of Business (CSB) is one of four primary academic units at the university.
