University of New Mexico Hiring for Learning Specialist,Sr at Albuquerque, NM Full Time

The Office of Education, Applied Cognition Medical Sciences Program is seeking a skilled individual that will provide, and assist in developing, services and programs that contribute to academic success. The successful candidate will focus on helping students reach their goals of establishing a career in medicine, and contribute to departmental programming that helps build connections and achieve academic success. The Sr. Learning Specialist will also collect feedback on interventions, monitor impact on student performance, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Conduct needs analyses and utilize performance management data to identify student learning and development needs; recommend and/or design learning solutions.
• Develops week-to-week support materials for students within each block of the curriculum.
• Effectively communicates with educators and constituents in both written and oral formats.
• Interface as the main point of contact for students.
• Oversees, Develops and coordinates all aspects of the peer-tutoring services, to include supervising.
• Instructs seminars and provide individual counseling to students preparing for standardized exams such as USMLE Step I and II.
• Assist and review student exams and work products. Help students analyze their performance, identify barriers to academic success, and develop strategies to optimize academic performance.
• Keep accurate, thorough, up-to-date, accessible records of student contacts, growth, and progress.
• Collaborate and build rapport with university faculty, staff that facilitates, invites, and deepens the development and use of the student support services available.

Conditions of Employment

If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to process/analyze information and effectively communicate it to students.
• Designing and teaching student success courses and workshops.
• Strong written, verbal, phone, presentation, and communication.
• Organizational and time management abilities
• Ability to work independently as a member of a team
• Critical thinking and decision making
