As a Finance Specialist, you will:

• Collaborate and provide consultative services to departments and staff based on departmental area expertise in support of finance related processes.
• Provide guidance, troubleshoot, and resolve complex requests and reconciliations for billing, invoices, credits, and unprecedented processing issues, and investigate irregularities.
• Ensure accuracy and completion of the reconciliation of transactions in the general ledger, individual, and batch journal entries.
• Review asset capitalization, objects on loan, asset sales, returns to inventory, lost and stolen assets, and capitalized asset transfer documentation and inventory.
• Review outstanding accounts receivables, bad debts, write offs, recoveries, and deferred revenue.
• Reconcile and approve vendor invoices.
• Review, edit, and approve drafted invoices for external billing.
• Process and track payments and refunds for cash, check, and credit card payments.
• Ensure internal charge requests and departmental requests for terminal and online credit card payment set up are processed in an accurate and timely manner.
• Retain financial records and files according to university-wide naming conventions, organization, and record retention protocols, and prepare and review standardized and ad hoc reports.
• Assist with university-wide finance process training development and delivery.
• Ensure accuracy and compliance with all applicable institutional, UN, State, and Federal regulations, policies, and guidelines and support ongoing improvement and standardization of university wide finance transactions.

What you bring to the position (minimum qualifications):

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or other related field of study (equivalent experience considered).
• 4+ years relative work experience.
• Experience using SAP or another large integrated finance system.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with rules and regulations.
• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships within and outside of reporting lines.
• Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of finance terminology and practices.
• A willingness and ability to learn new hardware and software systems.
