About Chief Finance Officer Group at The University of Melbourne

About the Role

As Management Accountant, you will be pivotal to the successful operation of the embedded Finance Business Partnering model within the University.
You will provide financial administration that contributes to the integrity of financial data by investigating and resolving issues within financial data. You will further provide support to Finance Business Partners to enable them to manage financial performance, ensure financial resources are allocated efficiently and effectively and provide financial insights and decision making support.

This role will be responsible for the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music.

In a typical week at work you may:

• prepare corporate and division level General Ledger journals (for example internal funding transfers, balance date adjustments)
• provide feedback to ensure continuous improvement of systems, processes and procedures
• support Finance Business Partners monitor short term and long-term financial performance and undertake ad hoc financial analysis
• participate and contribute to the development and input of divisional budgets and forecasts

About You

Not afraid to get your hands dirty, you’re renowned for being organised and efficient while managing a range of accounting tasks and making it look effortless. You have excellent attention to detail and thrive in a complex and fast paced environment. You will enjoy working with people and will be able to build and maintain positive, productive relationships with your team members and stakeholders in your client group.

Ideally, you will further have:

• Fully qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA); or
• Graduate or postgraduate qualifications in Finance, Accounting or other relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills with a high-level of expertise in Excel, including proficiency in summarisation of large volumes of financial data.
• Good time management skills, ability to work independently and prioritise and deliver competing tasks.
• Good communication skills, particularly in the form of well documented, clear and concise written financial procedures.
