The Finance and Contracts Officer is a key position within the National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO), a cross-UK activity in environmental science from satellites in space which is based at the University of Leicester. The Officer is responsible for NCEO`s financial accounting of its core (research council) and external income, tracking expenditure within NCEO, issuing budgets, managing expenditure statements and invoices, and providing both financial and contractual information in line with NCEOs governance and funder requirements. The post holder will work closely with colleagues at Leicester in the Research Support and Finance offices, finance and contract colleagues across the suite of NCEO partners from UK Universities and institutes, finance managers at the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and other funders of NCEO, the NCEO Director and the NCEO Centre Manager.
You have relevant experience in a similar type of role, are comfortable working with financial systems, and are highly proficient in using the Microsoft Office Suite. You are a team-player who enjoys unravelling complex finances with an appreciation of contractual terms and conditions. You are looking for a finance role in a fast-paced and often busy environment where you`ll become our financial expert, advising on the implications of financial decisions and alerting us to problems as they arise. You are looking to be a part of a team who will value good presentation, including graphics, and your high attention to detail.
