About the role

We are looking for a Lecturer to join the School of Education at the University of Leicester. This post provides the opportunity for those wanting to develop academic excellence and to contribute to research led teaching.

You will work as part of a vibrant team developing and delivering innovative teaching on both campus-based and distance learning postgraduate degree programmes in the field of Applied Linguistics and Language Education and other related areas, in particularly the MA Applied Linguistics and TESOL programmes. You will also be involved, where appropriate, in the School’s enterprise/CPD activities. You will support the enhancement of teaching and learning in our school by contributing proactively to the administration of modules and continually improving your own understanding and application of learning and teaching.

You will also contribute individually and collaboratively to educational research, particularly in Applied Linguistics and Language Education, whilst generating funding from a range of sources, including research councils, charities, relevant government bodies and private organisations.

We will support you in developing your research and teaching career and, in turn, you will play a key role in ensuring our continued success and fulfilling our future ambitions.

About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic educator capable of inspiring interest, curiosity and drive for learning in our students, motivated to provide the very best experience for our students using your expertise and skill to ensure all reach their potential.

You should hold a PhD in a relevant subject (or commitment to gain this), with a developing track record for publication of high quality journal papers, journal papers, with clear potential to successfully capture external research funding and to publish at REF 4* level (or equivalent). Significant and successful experience of HE teaching in the field of Applied Linguistics and/or TESOL is key, alongside the ability to design and deliver learning programmes and a passion to provide the very best experience for our students.
