Please note: This role is available only to current employees working in the Finance Service at the University of Leeds
Are you an excellent technical Accountant? Do you have experience of management information reporting using a large-scale accounting system, financial planning, budget preparation and control in a large organisation? Would you like to work for a world-class, research-led Faculty which aims to provide an educational environment that encourages and facilitates excellence whilst supporting our students to develop personally and professionally?
The Faculty of Medicine & Health is the largest and most complex Faculty in the University with around 1,600 staff and 5,800 students. As Assistant Accountant, you will support the Finance Manager in the provision of a financial management service to the Institute management and staff. In return you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic financial environment and be involved in producing comprehensive sustainable financial strategies which will underpin the Institute strategic plans. Additionally, you will be supported with the continuation of your studies if applicable.
You will be responsible for ensuring the accurate accounting and reporting of Institute financial transactions and that budget and forecasting models are updated correctly. You will have excellent problem-solving skills and a tenacity for investigating variances to reconcile accounts. In addition, you will have strong communication skills and be able to explain technical information to non-specialists.
This vacancy is within the Finance Service but it is based in the Leeds Institute of Medical Research (LIMR) at St James’s University Hospital (SJUH). However, should the business need arise, and after full consultation with you, you may be deployed elsewhere within the Finance Service
