The School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science (SMSAS) at the University of Kent is a welcoming and diverse environment that has been recognised with a Silver Athena SWAN award.

The School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science is seeking to appoint two Teaching Fellows in Mathematics to start on 1 September 2022 or later by agreement. The successful candidate will join our Mathematics Group which currently consists of 16 permanent academics. The Mathematics group has a broad range of research interests which include Algebra, Analysis, Integrable Systems, Mathematical Physics, and Topology.

We welcome applications from all areas of Mathematics and are particularly encouraging those from underrepresented groups to join us.

As a teaching Fellow you will:

• Undertake teaching of both undergraduate and postgraduate students to the highest standard, including the development of new modules and providing support for student learning.
• Collaborate with colleagues in the School on course development, delivery and assessment, taking on appropriate management and administrative responsibilities
• Act as personal tutor, giving first line support and providing mentorship

To succeed in this role you will:

• Have a PhD or equivalent in Mathematics
• Possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established teaching programmes
• Have excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
• Be able to evidence a personal commitment to developing, excellence in both teaching and student experience
