The University of Hull invites applications for a Readership in Accounting or Finance. The successful candidate will be expected to assume the headship of the Accounting, Finance and Economics Subject Group within the Business School.
The Head of Subject Group provides academic leadership for students and staff within their academic community. They are required to lead, manage and develop the subject group to continually raise standards of academic provision and achievement, and to work collaboratively with senior colleagues from the Business School, Faculty and University. They should act as role models demonstrating vision, leadership and empowering management. Heads of Subject Group are also expected to continue to engage in personal academic delivery through teaching, research or wider academic endeavour.
The successful candidate is likely to have a PhD in a relevant subject and (if appropriate) professional accreditations or qualifications. Other desirable characteristics include a good understanding of the academic disciplines within the Subject Group, an active interest in learning and teaching, and membership of the HEA. Previous experience of academic management within an academic institution is essential, as is the ability to lead and motivate staff across the range of disciplines included in the Subject Group.
