University of Houston Hiring for Senior Legal Clinic Supervisor – (STA010807) at Texas, United States Full Time

Supervises legal representation of clients by law students
participating in a legal aid clinic in the College of Law. Works
closely with the director of clinical programs and the director of
each applicable legal clinic.

1. Supervises law students providing legal advice and
   representation to clients and provides functional advice and
   training regarding a variety of legal projects.
2. Reviews and evaluates student work in all aspects of legal
   representation of clients, including, but not limited to,
   interviewing and counseling clients, research, legal document
   preparation, and court hearings and proceedings.
3. Manages cases in progress between semesters.
4. Plans and conducts community outreach activities, including,
   but not limited to, “know your rights” presentations.
5. May manage aspects of legal clinic operations under the
   supervision of the director of the applicable clinic or the
   director of clinical programs.
6. May serve as clinic liaison to legal aid organizations,
   resource providers, and community partners within a specific area
   of legal practice.
7. Provides leadership and mentoring to legal clinic
   supervisors.
8. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Additional Job Posting Information:

• This senior staff attorney will supervise clinic students and
  represent clients in the UHLC Civil Justice Clinic’s Houston
  Housing Assistance Program and work on projects as assigned by the
  director of the Civil Justice Clinic. The Civil Justice Clinic’s
  Houston Housing Assistance Program provides legal advice and
  counsel and all levels of extended representation to individuals
  facing eviction proceedings. The program also assists with other
  housing safety issues such as family law protective orders and
  repair issues.
• A strong candidate will have teaching or mentoring
  experience.
• All candidates must have a J.D. degree and be licensed to
  practice law in Texas.
• The maximum term of the position is one year. The position is
  contingent on availability of grant funding.

Qualifications :

Doctoral and 5 years experience

Education: Requires singular knowledge of a specialized advanced
professional discipline or the highest level of general business
knowledge, normally acquired through attainment of a directly
job-related terminal degree or equivalent formal training in a
recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the
type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of
three (5) years of directly job-related experience.
Certification/Licensing: Requires professional licensing,
certification or registration directly related to the job, as
