University of Houston Hiring for Minor Planned Projects Director – (STA010867) at Texas, United States Full Time

Provides expertise and leadership in implementing minor planned
projects at the University of Houston. Manages design and
construction staff as well as related business personnel
responsible for the planning, organizing and implementation of
facilities projects with total project cost (TPC) less than $10
million. Assures compliance with and adherence to current
institutional and industry standards by monitoring the day-to-day
operations and overall progress of the Minor Planned Projects
program.

1. Directs and oversees Project Managers, Inspectors and Minor
   In-House Construction crews to ensure projects are completed on
   schedule, within budget, and in accordance with university and
   governing agencies standards.
2. Responsible for all staffing and resources allocations to
   ensure efficiency and quality in the delivery of minor planned
   projects. Minor projects include maintenance and repair, alteration
   and renovation, minor recapitalization and reutilization, utility,
   multi-trade and building envelope type projects that support
   multiple University customers including, but not limited to,
   Parking and Transportation, Dining Services, Athletics, Department
   of Research and Facilities.
3. Hires and manages personnel involved in minor planned projects.
   Conducts performance evaluations and resolves personnel issues,
   including promotions, salary, and disciplinary matters. Establishes
   goals, determines needs, and allocates available resources to meet
   objectives.
4. Provides management oversight of minor planned project
   contracts including overseeing the development of bid requests,
   selecting professional architectural/engineering firms for contract
   services and reviewing contracts with team members, departments and
   Facilities Services.
5. Ensures adherence to FPC inspections and commissioning
   documentation, processes and policies as identified by contract
   requirements. In conjunction with Planning, coordinates approval
   procedures with the Board of Regents, Texas Higher Education
   Coordinating Board and associated State agencies as required.
6. Establishes department policies and procedures to ensure
   compliance with state, system and institutional requirements and
   for the successful delivery of services.
7. Provides assistance in the development and management of the
   Facility Services accounting system for Minor Planned
   Projects.
8. Develops, manages and maintains approved project delivery
   applications, including contractual agreements and updates to
   support continued improvement in quality control. Manages approved
   quality control applications.
9. Coordinates with other facility directors, providing an
   efficient communication channel for long-range planning and problem
   resolution in support of the mission of Facilities Services.
10. Liaisons with University stakeholders, end users and clients to
    ensure project coordination and communication is managed
    effectively. Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications :

Bachelors and 7 years experience

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical
aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or
the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline.
Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal,
directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or
an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is
directly related to the type of work being performed.Requires a
minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related
experience.
