University of Hong Kong Hiring for Post-doctoral Fellowship in Materials Simulations and Machine Learning at Hong Kong Full Time

Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow
in the Department of Chemistry (Ref.: 516892), to
commence as soon as possible for three years, with the possibility
of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Physics or
equivalent, with a strong background in first-principle electronic
structural simulations and/or machine-learning of
structure-performance relationships. They should have fluency in
written and spoken English (and preferably Chinese), a strong sense
of responsibility, good organizational and leadership skills, the
ability to work independently and be self-motivated. They must also
demonstrate a clear understanding of the fundamental principles of
molecular interactions with nanostructures and materials science,
and knowledge of a wide range of spectroscopic, microstructural and
thermochemical characteristics of such structures, and related
characterisation techniques. They should have experience or
exposure in a multidisciplinary environment in association with
electronic structural / molecular dynamics simulations, data
science and deep-learning techniques. The appointee will work in
predictive discovery of new functional nanostructures and catalysts
for photo-/electro- chemical conversion in the context of
water-splitting hydrogen generation, CO₂ reduction and
rechargeable batteries under the supervision of Professor Z.X. Guo.
