Duties & Responsibilities:
Assess community and participants’ needs, and develop and implement a plan for community-based center activities.
Create literature summaries, tables and graphics for reports, presentations and publications
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education or Related Field and 1 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities in coordinating educational and internship programs with high school students, including Native Hawaiian students; or equivalent education/training or experience.
Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in educational and internship programs demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with educational programs for indigenous students.
Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the field of educational and internship programs.
Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
Equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement Native Hawaiian culture-based activities, STEM activities, or college transition activities for students, family, and/or community members.
Understanding of Native Hawaiian culture and practices and culturally responsive approaches.
Experience working with diverse students including Native Hawaiian students, students with disabilities, and/or gifted/talented students.
Experience coordinating a project or program.
Ability to travel independently to various geographical site/school locations in a timely manner.
Desirable Qualifications:
Understanding of differentiated instruction and experience in implementing differentiated instruction in an inclusive class setting.
Experience supporting high school students, including Native Hawaiian students, for college transition.
Experience in helping to find internship opportunities and mentoring students through internships.
Familiarity in collecting and storing research data.
Experience with class observations for lesson implementation fidelity.
Experience with grant writing, manuscript, and/or proposal preparation.
