CONTEXT OF THE JOB:
Under the general direction of the Director of the Center for Black
Culture (CBC), the Program Coordinator supervises multiple student
staff and provides advisement, coaching, and support to African
American/Black students and student groups and works to build
intra-cultural and cross-cultural relationships through
programming. The incumbent develops and coordinates events and
services that address culture, climate, belonging, and healthy
identity development. The program coordinator facilitates student
learning of university policies, co-curricular resources, effectual
leadership skills, and professional development
opportunities.
The Program Coordinator supports and, in some instances, cultivates
partnerships with a range of university departments/organizations,
off-campus organizations/businesses, and Black alumni to develop
and market academic support services to strengthen the retention,
persistence rates, and quality of life of Black students.
The Program Coordinator is knowledgeable of the unique challenges
Black communities may experience and will contribute to creating
culturally responsive engagement and outreach initiatives that
foster resilience, well-being, inclusion, and achievement for Black
students, faculty and staff, parents/families, and alumni.
