Context of the Job:
The Office of General Counsel (OGC) is a highly dynamic office
committed to providing legal services for the University of
Delaware. It manages the full range of legal issues for the
University, including counsel and advice to the President and Board
of Trustees, employment matters, litigation and other adversarial
proceedings, corporate and business transactions, student matters,
and compliance with pertinent federal and State laws. The OGC
engages and supervises outside counsel for assistance with complex
legal matters and litigation
The Associate Director is a position reporting directly to the Vice
President & General Counsel but taking day-to-day direction
from the Associate General Counsel responsible for the
implementation of a University-wide contracting system. The
Associate Director supports the implementation and effective use of
the contracting system and the provision of an efficient,
high-quality, and client-focused contracting experience. The
incumbent supports the business by assisting with reviewing and
updating internal policies, administering all aspects of the
contracting system, providing training for users across all
departments of the University, providing excellent and pragmatic
commercial contracting support for the University administration
and departments, and leading special and cross-functional projects
requiring transactional input and support.
