University of Chester Hiring for Education Undergraduate & Postgraduate Visiting Lecturers Job at Exton, South East England, England Full Time

The Academic and Professional Programmes (APP) department at the University of Chester is seeking to appoint Visiting Lecturers in Education for the 2022-23 academic session. The APP department teaches over 300 BA (Hons) Education students across all levels of undergraduate studies spanning early childhood, education studies alongside a vibrant postgraduate suite of programmes with over 600 students.
Visiting lecturers are required to teach and assess on the following modules from January 2023:
Learning to learn to include (Undergraduate):
  • Understanding Learning;
  • Understanding self as a learner;
  • Perceptions of learning
Getting to know the young child to include (Undergraduate):
  • Compare and contrast the work of key early years developmental theorists and play pioneers
  • Describe and explore different types and stages of play
  • Examine how adults may effectively prepare for and support young children in their learning experiences
Learning Teaching and Assessment in Practice to include (Undergraduate):
  • Positive attitudes, values and behaviour which are expected of pupils within the setting;
  • Strategies to establish a safe and stimulating environment for pupils within the setting;
  • Awareness of pupils’ capabilities and their prior knowledge, and plan teaching to build on these;
  • How pupils learn and how this impacts on teaching
Educational Leadership and Management (Postgraduate online):
  • Seminar lead
Or any combination of these subject areas
Each is delivered in 2 or 3 hour lectures and seminars supported by a range of essential online learning materials hosted on the university VLE. Successful candidates must be able to teach at either undergraduate or postgraduate level using appropriate pedagogy to support collaborative learning. Candidates may need to develop and revise the teaching materials needed to support both in-person and online teaching and essential online learning resources.
Applicants will be considered for appointment by our VL Panel and will typically be qualified to Master’s level. Experience of teaching and assessment is essential. Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate the ability to use their interest in the subject area to enthuse students in groups of up to 35.
The current hourly rate of pay for VL work is £47.93. This rate includes teaching, preparation time and marking duties.
