We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced Finance Manager to join the School of Clinical Medicine Cluster manage and oversee the financial matters of five academic departments.
The Departments of Radiology, Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Medical Genetics have clustered their Professional Services staff to form one integrated team, with specialist groups in HR, Finance and Education. This team manages all administrative matters across the five departments. The departments are housed across different locations in the Biomedical Campus.
This is a senior position in the Cluster professional services team, reporting directly to the Business and Operations Manager. The role holder will lead the finance team with four direct reports. The post holder’s duties will include overseeing monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts; the preparation of annual financial submissions; financial data analysis; and the provision of financial, budgetary and planning advice to senior management and Departmental staff, including the five Heads of Department. The successful candidate will take responsibility for financial controls and planning within the Departments. This is an exciting time to join, as Departments continue to expand through active capital projects and academic recruitment. The role holder will have the opportunity to develop and implement new financial processes and procedures to enhance management of the expanding financial requirements.
The post holder will hold a degree in accounting, equivalent level of qualification or experience. They will be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge of accounting, and research grants, and have substantial experience in a senior finance management role in a similar environment.
