MMLL is a large, complex and welcoming Faculty with an exceptional international record in teaching and research. We are looking for an enthusiastic and versatile person with excellent skills in accounts and financial administration to make a positive contribution to our 22-person strong Professional Services team.
The Faculty Finance Assistant works with the Faculty Finance Coordinator supporting the day to day running of all aspects of the accounting and financial procedures for the Faculty and will maintain routine procedures in their absence. Duties will include preparing and raising invoices for incoming payments, raising purchase orders, undertaking and advising on procurement and tender procedures, reporting on research grants, monitoring expenditure on budgets, and assisting with month and year end reporting. There will also be opportunities to develop skills in research funding applications and trust fund management.
The successful candidate will be educated to ‘A’ Level standard, highly numerate, analytical and proficient in standard software packages, particularly Excel. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, including the ability to explain financial procedures effectively to non-finance staff, as well as the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy whilst working to tight deadlines in a busy environment.
Experience working in a busy accounts environment and of using computerised accounting systems is essential, ideally with Oracle financials and/or the Cambridge University Financial System (CUFS).
