The Department of Clinical Neurosciences invites applications for the post of Education Administration Assistant to who will work closely with the Education Administrator to provide efficient and effective support to the Postgraduate Programme.
This role will be responsible for providing the necessary administrative support from first point of contact to the Department, application process and processing acceptance, as well as dealing with daily queries and supporting our current students. The Department has just over 130 PhD and MPhil students with an average intake of 35 per year, which in turn requires a high level of professional administration with a capacity to work under pressure at peak periods focussing on applications as well as maintaining a professional service to the Department.
The role holder will need to be able to multi-task as this role has many aspects to it whilst dealing with enquiries to the programme and current students they will also assist in running the postgraduate seminar series providing feedback to students and supervisors. The role holder will facilitate student meetings/interviews and any other necessary meetings the Education Administrator deems appropriate.
The Education Administration Assistant will also be responsible for supporting the delivery of the Y5 medical undergraduate programme which involves organisational aspects of the teaching and maintaining a very busy timetable. This is essential to the smooth running of the teaching programme which runs in four blocks over each academic year.
The role holder will also provide some administrative assistance to the Department HR team. This will include supporting holiday and sickness recording, research passport processing and maintaining staff lists and mailing lists.
It is necessary that you have previous administration experience as well as interpersonal skills with a helpful and positive attitude. The successful candidate will be proficient in using Microsoft Office software, including Access and Excel; have well developed organisational skills; the ability to communicate clearly and effectively (oral and written) and be self-motivated. They should be able to work with a high level of accuracy and have good attention to detail.
