The School of Education is seeking to appoint two exceptionally motivated individuals to join an interdisciplinary and dynamic team at the highly prestigious University of Bristol. One full-time, open-ended Lecturer (profile level c) position seeks a candidate with expertise in the area of applied psychology (expertise in mental health, counselling or clinical psychology are of particular interest); appointment at the Senior Lecturer level may be possible for an exceptional candidate. The second position is a Senior Lecturer level (profile level d) for a candidate with expertise in social psychology. This position is tied to fixed funding for a period of 4 years (until 31st July 2025). Please see https://www.bristol.ac.uk/hr/grading/academic/role-profiles/ for the competencies and activities required for the differing role profiles.
The successful individuals will join our thriving and expanding internationally renowned team of Psychologists and be a member of our new research centre (Psychological Approaches for Studying Education: PASE).
These are full-time academic roles and the post-holders’ contributions will span scholarship, teaching, research and administration. As well as making a significant leadership contribution to developing interdisciplinary and collaborative research bids and scholarly projects (e.g., supporting Early Career Researchers, stimulating research centre activity, etc) the post holders will contribute to the development and oversight of teaching courses and programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The successful candidates will contribute to the educational delivery of our British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited MSc Psychology of Education and BSc Psychology in Education programmes as well as across the School’s programmes as required. Both programmes are uniquely positioned to embed Psychology in Education and have attracted students who wish to develop careers where psychology is applied to work with children, young people, and schools, including in special education.
The successful candidates will engage with and contribute to the intellectual life of the School. We welcome applications from candidates who have interests that complement our existing strengths and candidates who complement the existing expertise in the School. The role-holder will be able to demonstrate excellent research, teaching, and leadership abilities and there is an expectation that the successful candidates will have an established or emerging publication record relevant to the role profile and have potential for high quality, grant-funded research and impact (with proven grant funding and international excellence at the Senior Lecturer level).
For informal queries please contact Melissa Allen, Head of School on [email protected]
We welcome applications from all members of our community and are particularly encouraging those from diverse groups, such as members of the LGBT+ and BAME communities, to join us.
