The University of Akron, College of Business, is looking to fill the position of Academic Adviser II. The successful candidate will provide advisement to students regarding academic, career, and personal matters; establish and maintain contact with students to monitor academic progress and eligibility of readmission, conditional, or transfer students; facilitate the application process for students and perform related administrative duties; act as a liaison between students and various academic and non-academic departments; refer students to appropriate services and departments; maintain accurate student records while using computers to generate reports and communicate with students; conduct academic workshops for students and coordinate professional development seminars for advisers; participate in departmental and University-wide committee assignments; update written material provided by departments and colleges for students.
Relevant Master’s Degree. Experience working with students and others in an educational or agency environment. Organizational, computer and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Two (2) years of experience in academic advising and counseling in post secondary/higher education.
The salary for this position is commensurate with experience and qualifications. We offer a competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package.
