Student Support Adviser (Accomodation)
The University of Aberdeen Student Support Services department is seeking to recruit a Student Support Adviser (Accommodation) in a new role to join the teams working in University Halls of Residence and Student Advice & Support. Both teams help students with the transition to University life, many of whom are coming to live away from home for the first time.
This new, fixed term role, will help provide supervision and oversight of a team of Student Resident Assistants and will support their work in providing a welfare service to help residents with any difficulties they may encounter (from emotional issues, academic worries, disagreements between flatmates) and help coordinate and deliver a diverse calendar of events to help students settle in, make new friends, learn new skills and feel part of a supportive community. The role will operate on a shift basis, based for the majority of time from our Hillhead site and will require evening working.
The successful applicant, working with the Community Liaison Officer and Advisers in the Student Advice & Support team, will provide a range of information, advice and support to residents on a wide range of matters, including personal, health, accommodation and financial concerns. The postholder will help supervise the SRA team and act as a first point of contact for any concerns and queries staff have in the support of students.
The successful applicant will act as deputy to the Community Liaison Officer, providing support to the team of Student Resident Assistants who carry out a pastoral and community building role in University Halls of Residence. The role will also involve direct support to students in halls as a case worker and mediator.
The successful applicant will be a graduate or will have extensive experience of supporting students, ideally in Higher Education, have strong inter-personal skills and good written and oral communication skills.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6, £33,797- £40,323 per annum and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
As this post is subject to operational requirements it is available until 31 July 2022.

This role is based in the UK and as such the successful candidate will be required to live and work in the UK.
Due to the nature of the requirements of this post, homeworking is not considered appropriate
