The Undergraduate and ITE Admissions Office is responsible for all admissions to UCL’s undergraduate degree, affiliate and Teacher Training programmes. It handles approximately 80,000 applications per cycle and is responsible for admitting approximately 6,000 undergraduate and 1,000 ITE students in each academic year. The Admissions function is critical in ensuring that UCL secures the desired number of students to meet UCL’s aspirations in terms of securing and maintaining a well-qualified, balanced student body and associated tuition fee income.
We are looking to recruit experienced and enthusiastic Admissions Officers to work in our central admissions team, which manages applications to programmes across UCL. The posts will typically be focused on undergraduate applications within one of our Faculty Teams.
Working as part of a team in a busy, friendly and supportive environment your duties will include: administration of all aspects of undergraduate admissions, such as assessing and making selection decisions on applications against agreed criteria; communicating decisions to UCAS and applicants; handling enquiries from applicants, parents, schools and colleagues within UCL; preparing documentation to support applicants applying for a visa through the Home Office points based immigration system; and ensuring all entrants meet and are compliant with statutory requirements. You will also play an active part in delivering results day activities in the summer as well as providing support to colleagues across UCL with open days and welcome activities throughout the academic year.
We are operating hybrid working and you will have the opportunity to work remotely for up to four days a week. At peak times (for example release of A level results, open days, enrolment) staff will be required on campus more often.
If you have any queries about the role, please contact Elizabeth Mead at: [email protected]
The successful candidates will have experience of admissions in a higher education setting with a commitment to providing an excellent student experience. You will have excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and work under pressure. The nature of the work requires individuals with good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. You will have the ability to learn and adhere to procedures as well as observe regulations to deliver a fair and transparent admissions process. You will possess the ability to work effectively as part of a team and to manage your own time effectively.
As well as the exciting opportunities this role presents we also offer some great benefits some of which are below:
As London’s Global University, we know diversity fosters creativity and innovation, and we want our community to represent the diversity of the world’s talent. We are committed to equality of opportunity, to being fair and inclusive, and to being a place where we all belong.
We therefore particularly encourage applications from candidates who are likely to be underrepresented in UCL’s workforce.
These include people from Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds; people with disabilities; LGBTQI+ people; and for our Grade 9 and 10 roles, women.
