Primary Purpose:

The buyer of indirect services and material would support the North America indirect procurement organization to ensure optimization and utilization of agreements. This includes responsibility for procurement activities for a set of locations, within a region or business unit. In this role, it is encouraged to follow an individual work plan, meeting day-to-day objectives, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning. Buyer will execute proper methodology for purchasing decisions, ensuring minimal exceptions, proper documentation, and adherence to policies.

What you’ll do:

• Facilitate procurement activities, such as purchase requisition/purchase order management, vendor identification, quote/bid review and negotiations
• Support the implementation of North America strategic sourcing projects for indirect categories, such as packaging materials (drums, intermediate bulk containers), maintenance repairs, operations, and corporate services
• Maintain “timely” control of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other required documents to assure orderly administration and retention of records
• Ensure high adoption rate of using the proper procurement methodologies and ensuring minimum exceptions.
• Documenting properly on orders reason for exception
• Ensure appropriate policies, monitoring systems, internal controls and practices are followed, including minimizing payment term exceptions
• Develop and manage the relationship with key suppliers to better facilitate purchasing needs, negotiations, dispute/discrepancy resolution, and performance tracking
• Work with the cross functional teams to help ensure process and policies are followed, keeping quality and efficiencies on the forefront
• Create and maintain a positive team environment
• Support the procurement organization in the further optimization and implementation of a world-class purchasing department within Univar North America
• Establish a strong network of people throughout the region to ensure involvement in savings projects, support during the strategic sourcing projects, as well as smooth implementation of developed contracts and processes

What you’ll need:

• CPSM certification or 2+ years of supply chain/sourcing experience, including negotiations
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including strong Excel skills
• General understanding of contract terms and agreements
• SAP/MM experience
• Foundational knowledge of accounting and finance
