We are currently seeking a skilled Financial Analyst to join our team at The Wesley Hospital in a permanent full-time capacity.

Your Role:
You’ll be responsible for the financial planning and analysis of all aspects of The Wesley Hospital, enabling the General manager and Hospital Executive to make well-informed commercial decisions concerning the hospital.

Your role will include researching and analysing financial, performance and other business data to understand the hospital’s business performance and strategy. You’ll also be required to produce reports and make recommendations about the best use of scarce resources in the achievement of hospital objectives.

A diverse role, you’ll be required to:
  • Analyse current and past financial data and performance of the hospital
  • Analyse and interpret data provided by third parties such as APHA, Commonwealth (ABS, Medicare, APRA) and State Governments.
  • Prepare reports and projections based on analysis, including the development of financial models
  • Identify trends in financial performance and providing recommendations for improvement
  • Evaluate capital expenditure investment proposals for the acquisition of clinical equipment
  • Explore investment opportunities presented to the hospital
  • Consult with relevant clinical and corporate services staff to better develop commercial proposals including coordination with other members of the Executive team to review financial information and forecasts
  • Identify opportunities for growth and financial improvement

Ideally with a background working within a healthcare or hospital environment, you’ll present with:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report-writing and articulating financial concepts to clinical and non-clinical leaders
  • Previous experience with statistical analysis and financial forecasting
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify data patterns
  • An ability to manage your time effectively, prioritising your work and negotiating outcomes and timelines with stakeholders
  • Degree in Accounting, Economics or Finance, with strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards
While note essential, expert-level analytical and financial modelling skills would be highly desirable. Membership of CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand or FINSIA would also be beneficial.
