Skills and experience

• Qualified Accountant with prior experience of operating at a Finance Manager level managing multiple stakeholders

Role

Our client is a start-up SME engineering company enabling carbon reduction across a range of sectors with unique high-speed electric motor IP. We are continuing to grow our diverse and highly skilled team with UK government backing through Innovate UK and collaborations with leading companies including Cummins and GKN Aerospace.

The finance team play a key role in supporting the growth of the business and interactions with investors, partners and government agencies.

Duties and responsibilities

We are looking for a capable and versatile finance manager to lead the team day-to-day based at our technical centre in Leamington Spa (with flexibility for hybrid home working).

Reporting to a part-time CFO, the role involves preparing month-end management accounts and commentary, draft financial statements, drafting Corporation Tax requirements including Research and Tax Credit claims, quarterly Innovate UK grant claims, VAT returns & PAYE returns (currently outsourced). You will be the primary contact for the Company with financial auditors, tax advisers and insurance brokers. You will partner with the management team to monitor performance against the business plan, update financial forecasts and short to medium term detailed cash flow forecasts.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a small team of three – transactional finance and management accounts
• Review management accounts and month-end reporting
• Drive a key focus on program profitability, materials, scrap cost management, stock and working capital
• Provision of insightful weekly/monthly MI
• Planning, budgeting and forecasting
• Ensure tax and VAT accounting accurate and fully compliant with legislation
• Oversight of all Treasury activities
• Challenging business and commercial operations
• Business Partnering with operations
• Creating a high value reporting whilst driving continuous process improvements
