Surest is seeking a Software Architect with a passion for programming and architecture to help drive change for the health insurance consumer.

You’ll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design and build scalable backend services and tools to help teams implement, deploy and analyze data assets with a high level of autonomy and limited friction
• You will have deep technical skills, be comfortable contributing to an evolving engineering/product ecosystem
• Help build a strong architectural foundation for the company
• Stay up to speed on new technologies and introduce them to your teammates
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, key stakeholders, and other colleagues in clearly and effectively executing features/stories through code

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in software development and coding in various languages (Java, Python, C#, etc.)
• Demonstrated experience with software design and architecture patterns
• Demonstrated ability to work in a highly technical environment with an attention to detail
• Demonstrated understanding of software quality engineering principles
• Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and present to people at all levels across the enterprise

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in computer science, engineering or another relevant field
• 2+ years of experience with microservices architecture
• 2+ years of experience with Spring or SpringBoot
• 2+ years of experience in data modeling
• 2+ years of experience designing and delivering software through CI/CD methods
• 1+ years of experience with Terraform or similar IaC tools
• Hands-on experience with AWS
• Kafka expertise
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs
• Experience designing and contributing to an event-driven architecture
• SQL mastery
• Experience in healthcare or experience working with sensitive data
• Demonstrated experience working within Agile environments: Scrum or Kanban

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado/Connecticut/Nevada residents is $97,300 to $176,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
