Section Engineer – Permanent – Principal Contractor – West Midlands

My client, a Tier 1 Civil Engineering contractor is currently looking to recruit a Section Engineer to join its Heavy Civils division within the Hs2 project, focusing on the delivery of Civil Infrastructure / Water projects.

This vacancy has come about due to an increase in workload and expansion as a business unit.

Successful candidates will benefit from working on a range of projects valued £10M – £100M.

Duties

• Establishing primary site control
• Setting out & surveying when necessary
• Check drawings and quantities as well as reading designs.
• Liaise with sub-contractors and any consultants engaged in the project.
• Supervise and monitor the progress and quality of work produced by site labour force and sub-contractors when required
• Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
• Introduce improvements and innovation where possible.

Your profile

• 5 years+ experience
• Formal qualification preferred – e.g. HND in construction related discipline ideal
• Experience setting out for earthworks, drainage, highways, local authority roads, roundabouts, services etc.
• Prior experience using AutoCAD is preferred
• Committed, Enthusiastic, Strong work ethic, Independent thinker
• CSCS Card.
• SMSTS is a bonus

Overview

My client is a Specialist Civil Engineering Contractor that is looking to recruit an experienced Site Engineer with a strong background in delivering major civil schemes to join a well-established Civils Division.

Typical projects will involve; tunnelling, temporary works, deep drainage, bridges/structures (new-build & replacement) etc.

The appropriate candidate will be highly motivated and well organised demonstrating a good level of computer literacy and technical construction knowledge.

The successful candidate will need to have a proven track record of helping deliver £10m+ infrastructure schemes on time and within budget and in accordance to the companies H&S policies.

As Site Engineer, you will have the full support of the Senior Engineers, Site Agents and Managers to make sure that, as a team, the scheme is being delivered to budget and to schedule whilst you are continually developing.

Role

• Stringent Record Keeping / QA
• Proficient in AutoCAD / Produce Asbuilt Surveys
• Interpretation of technical drawings
• Working to RAMS
• Liaising with Designers / Internal teams and management of TQ’s

Requirements

• HNC or above in an Engineering or construction related subject
• 5+ years practical experience in the role of Site Engineer
• Experience working on heavy civil, water or major civil engineering projects
• CSCS Card
• Should have good record-keeping skills & be computer literate
• Must have valid UK drivers license
