What success looks like in this role:

The chosen candidate will undergo initial induction training as a group and then be deployed onto project work as part of the UFSS development team. They will work closely with both on and off-shore internal teams and potentially directly with clients. This may include client site visits.

The associate will perform chargeable work throughout most of their placement year and contribute to the success of the UFSS program.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

Working in software development team in a commercial environment on financial software for UK Financial Institutions. Candidate may be part of a team of developers or working by themselves to build software to a technical specification. The roles will involve liaising with colleagues at all levels including System Designers, System Testers and subject matter experts. The role may include some testing or robotics and automation.

The candidate will develop a range of technical and professional skills and will include some of the following:

• Robotics & Automation
• DevOps
• Software Development Methodologies such as Agile and iterative development
• Software Deployment, Configuration and Support
• Test automation
• Software development skills such as: .net; SQL; Agile Business Suite
• ITIL Service Management elements such as Incident, problem and change management
• Business Analysis Skills
• SEI CMMI and ISO90000-1 compliant development processes
• Service Delivery Metrics
• Collaboration, presentation, communication and problem solving skills

Key Qualifications:

Ideally candidates will have experience in the following areas:

• Successful completion of Years 1 and 2 of Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
• Degree course should be IT or Maths related

Key Skills:

• Student enrolled in Bachelor or Master degree program majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineer, Mathematics or related discipline
• Knowledge of basic software engineering concepts
• Has an interest in Windows and SQL
• Problem solving
• Able to learn and apply new technologies quickly
• Has a natural curiosity for technology
• Able to work effectively in a team oriented environment or as an independent contributor
• Good written and verbal communication skills

Essential (at least one of the following):

• Windows knowledge to assist with navigation around servers
• Previous programming experience
• Problem solving and investigative skills

Desirable:

• Should be proficient in the use of MS Office

• Must be self-assured, self-motivated and have a proactive attitude with a desire and aptitude to pick up and develop new skills
• Must have good communication skills and value the importance of teamwork
• Must have good customer /telephone manner as will be expected talk to senior internal stakeholders and clients
• Must have good problem solving / investigative skills
• Must have a strong interest in business administration
• Must have an interest in IT
